What We Can Do

The CALM Center provides:

  • Medically supervised detox
  • Medication review, oversight
  • At least one visit with psychiatrist and therapist
  • Two group sessions daily
  • Family therapy session
  • Plan for continued care after leaving

Three Major Goals

A PAUSE:  Provide children with a safe environment to be less impacted by community or family stress, to be exposed to and potentially integrate new coping skills, and to talk to experienced staff;

A PERSPECTIVE:  Clinical feedback and perceptions from experienced team members, physicians, nurses, and therapists regarding a client’s mental health, diagnoses, and future needs;

 A PLAN:  Assistance in connecting the parent/guardian with the next step in treatment.

The First Step

Simply give us a call to start your journey toward feeling better

All it takes is a single phone call to start the journey toward a happier, healthier you! The first appointment is free. Youth in crisis can call any time of day or night.

Crisis to CALM

The CALM Center is a safe and caring place for youth ages 10-17 to receive immediate support, assessment and stabilization for an emotional, behavioral or substance abuse crisis any time of day or night. Care is provided regardless of ability to pay, and a referral is not necessary.

A board and ASAM certified psychiatrist along with licensed nurses, therapists and life skills coaches work as a team with youth and their families to identify what is causing the crisis and to create a plan for change.

The CALM Center fills the gap between outpatient and inpatient care for kids in crisis. Crisis situations that often lead to admissions include suicidal thoughts, defiant behaviors at school and home and dangerous behaviors.

CALM Center clients see a strong decrease in depression (54%) and anxiety (60%) during their one-week stay.

Hear From The Kids

Letters From The Kids

As children leave, they write letters thanking staff for changing their lives. Here are three:

“You inspire me to do something good with my life. One day I want to do what you do. Thank you.”

“This program is amazing and it truly does help… Thank you for the good times and the good food, for the lessons you taught me and for being so kind to me.”

“For the seven days each of us is here we are getting a break away from our problems, our situation, and while we are away from those, we see each of you as our protectors, our caretakers. Our protectors, staying up while we are at our weakest (sleeping), letting us talk when broken. Our caretakers feeding us warm meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

For some kids, they have been through so much the love has been lost along the way, but I know when they come here they will be able to take a breath and smile at the fact of being a part of a loving community. This place is blessed to have every one of you. Thank you so much for being a part of (my) journey and teaching me so much. I will carry it along day by day. Have a blessed life and bless each kid’s life that comes in here.”
