Training Summary: Providing school-based services to clients can be a rewarding, but complex way to provide services. In this training we are going to take a look at what makes this type of service delivery different and also look at the challenges, rewards, and ethical considerations when providing services in a school. In addition to that, we are also going to look at ways to continue to improve and cope with this type of service delivery.

Training summary:
Religious trauma can deeply impact individuals who have experienced harmful or controlling religious environments. This three-hour course is designed to equip therapists with a comprehensive understanding of religious trauma, its manifestations, and treatment approaches. We will examine the complexities of working through harm based in religion and examine how transference, bias, and our own journeys can impact the therapeutic process. Therapists will gain insights into the aspects of religious trauma and gain practical skills to help survivors heal.

- Understanding Religious Trauma:
- Define religious trauma and explore its various forms, including spiritual abuse, religious coercion, and indoctrination.
- Examine the psychological, emotional, and social consequences of religious trauma on individuals’ well-being.
- Recognize the intersectionality of religious trauma with other forms of trauma and identity factors.
- Impact of High Control Systems:
- Analyze how high control religious systems exert influence and control over individuals’ thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs.
- Explore the dynamics of power, authority, and manipulation within high control religious environments.
- Discuss the long-term effects of high control systems on individuals’ autonomy, self-esteem, and relationships.
- Treatment Approaches:
- Identify ethical considerations when working with clients who have experienced religious trauma, including respect for religious beliefs and cultural sensitivity.
- Learn techniques for creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences.
- Develop skills for addressing religious shame, guilt, and existential crises while promoting resilience and self-compassion.

Training Summary: Supporting clients with symptoms of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) can often be an overwhelming and complex task. In this training, we are going to take a look at identifying symptoms and patterns in the family that can lead to a child being diagnosed with ODD. After identifying symptoms, we will then look at ways to support clients in families in treating a child diagnosed with ODD.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn information about diagnostic criteria listed in the DSM.
- Explore patterns in a client’s environment that may contribute to reinforcing symptoms of ODD.
- Explore evidence-based practices in supporting clients with ODD.
- Learn ways to support families in providing an environment to that does not reinforce these types of behaviors.
