The words that finally sent Robin on her path to recovery, after years of undiagnosed and untreated mental health issues, were, “Have some compassion for yourself. It doesn’t have to be this hard.”

Robin is someone who has come out on the other side of mental health issues. The short, sweet version of her story is now that she’s had the help she desperately needed and is no longer at a point of crisis, she wants to support others in finding the same inner peace that she fought  so hard for. Robin understands with first hand experience of how ridiculously challenging it is to get back on our feet after we fall. The one thing that we must give is something that feels impossible: time. Time for therapy to help. Time to find the correct medications and dosages. Time for our body and mind to heal.

As a result, joining The Board of The Counseling and Recovery Services of Oklahoma (CRSOK) was a natural fit. Robin loves how the team at CRSOK aims to expand mental health care access, is certified in the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed care, and is normalizing mental health illness. Joining The Board is important to her; it is something she became interested in after overcoming her own mental health struggles. She hopes that her direct experience will bring insight that will help improve the mental health care given to our community.

In addition, Robin is also an entrepreneur and started her first company in June 2018. These days, she actively runs into chaos and uncertainty as proof there are no prerequisites to running a company (or two). She’s an author and most recently has written painfully honest blog posts that cover entrepreneurial lessons and mental health struggles.
