Recovery Starts Here

Jon Lanning

I have been on the board for sixteen months so far. I was contacted by Director of Operations Martha Hauser on LinkedIn, and she wanted to know if I was interested in serving. I did a lot of research and was extremely impressed by Counseling & Recovery Services. They offer many great services and will work with any budget, sometimes providing services for free. I am passionate about mental health and Counseling & Recovery is meeting a crucial need for many people including children and adults.

The mission of Counseling & Recovery Services is “helping build better lives through behavioral health and substance abuse services.” I give my time and money to Counseling & Recovery Services because they are changing lives every single day. They provide excellent care and services and I wanted to be a part of helping meet the mental health needs or our community.

I am the CEO at Strategic Talent Services (STS). STS is a recruiting firm placing top candidates in top positions. Before STS I was in the USAF, taught school, and was an HR manager. I’ve done consulting work, management training, and currently work with various groups serving where I am needed.

I have served on the Counseling & Recovery Services HR committee and am currently on the Community Relations and Resource Development committee. I am also on the HR Committee with the Tulsa Housing Authority, serve as a precinct chairman, and volunteer helping veterans as a career coach.

I grew up in Tulsa, OK., and left for Texas when I married my wife. A few years later I joined the USAF and after serving six years we moved back to the Tulsa area. My wife and I have four children. I have coached soccer, umpired for Little League, and worked with students to teach them interview skills at Tulsa Tech and Workforce Oklahoma.

My hobbies are hunting, family time, reading and writing stories, studying the Bible, swimming, and other outdoor activities. I love to learn new things and to explore the outdoors. I am also a huge Green Bay Packers fan. Go Pack!! The most important thing I want people to know is that I have been a Christian most of my life and Jesus tells us to serve each other. Helping people in need to overcome their obstacles is an important way to serve others and make an impact in our world.
